Modern Patinas

The decorative colouring and patination of metals extends back over hundreds of years. Nowadays the majority of modern artists have noticed that due to atmospheric pollution many exterior sculptures on public view have turned from their original black or brown colouring to green.

This is termed and recognised as a acquiring a green verdigris patina. The consequences of this is that the modern trend by artists is to patinate a newly cast bronze or sculpture with chemicals that replicate the green verdigris appearance.

Many artists believe that their work will remain unchanged during their lifetime and through the unforeseen future. Adopting modern technology we are able to accommodate this vogue in current patinations.
